The Mathematics Department is located in Herman Brown Hall for Mathematics aka “Brown Hall for Mathematical Sciences, Herman” on the map below, building #34.

1. Hotel Shuttle

The Hilton Hotel Medical Center, Intercontinental Hotel, or Marriott Medical Center, and other hotels in Medical Center provide hotel suttles that drop off at Rice University. If you take the hotel shuttle, please ask the driver to drop you off at Valhalla (on-campus grad student bar.) The Herman Brown Hall for Mathematics is in the building behind the courtyard that is adjacent to Valhalla; see the map below.

2. Rice BRC Express Shuttle

There is a Rice shuttle available that picks up visitors from The BRC (BioScience Research Collaborative) located at 6500 Main St, Houston, TX 77030. The shuttle stop is located at the back of the building on Travis street in front of the building steps and operates from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm, every 10 minutes.

The closest drop-off point on campus to Hermann Brown Hall is stop # 6 on the map below which is in front of the School of Humanities. Please see the walking map to Hermann Brown Hall below and feel free to ask the shuttle drivers for more information, they are always willing to help.

3. Driving to campus:

The campus entrance most convenient for the Mathematics Department is entrance 20, located at the corner of Rice Boulevard and Kent Street.

Airports

• William P. Hobby airport is 12 miles southeast of Campus.

Uber is also available for pick up or drop-off at either airport.

Parking near the Department of Mathematics (credit card is required)

North Annex Lot

The North Annex (NA) Lot is the closest visitor parking available at all times. The fee is $1 per 10 minutes, with a $12 maximum (credit card only). North Annex Lot is located off of entrance 20 on the right-hand side at the 4-way stop.

North Lot (available evenings and weekends only)

North (N) Lot is available to visitors on weekdays after 5:30 pm and all day long on the weekends and holidays. The fee is $1 per 10 minutes, with a $12 maximum (credit card only). North Lot is located between entrance gates 20 and 21.

If you are using the visitor parking voucher, please follow the directions below:

1. Please use your credit card to enter the parking lot.
2. Upon exiting the parking lot you will need to enter the voucher first and the credit card second, to avoid being charged for the parking fee.
